¡En el campo! 10-18-2021

Image
¡Hola todos! It has been a crazy week, and a good one! As you know, we had transfers and I'm here in Almecatla with Elder Arius. We are more out in the countryside and there are so many stray dogs, just everywhere. We haven't had any try to eat us, so that's cool. We are covering 2 wards in this area so we're kept busy. We also had zone conference and thankfully I didn't have to do too much of a training. We set up situations to practice yeah for our zone, but I didn't have to say too much which was nice. My Spanish still isn't polished. But one thing President taught that's stuck with me is that obedience is better than sacrifice. Because obedience is the first law of heaven, and what all commandment are built upon. We also had some great lessons with people. We were teaching this lady named Paulina and we taught her the plan of Salvation which was powerful, and another day we taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was a really powerful moment, tears wer...

We'll bring the world the Vaccine? 10-11-2021

Image
Oh hey everyone! So these past 3 days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) us and the Puebla South Mission did service for about 14 hours each day to help people here in Puebla get the vaccine! It was absolutely crazy, and fun! We were on our feet most of the time helping people fill out paperwork or organizing it for them, as well as directing people, answering questions for them, and the sorts. We helped over 54,000 people those 3 days to get the vaccine, and it felt like a lot more people. The line was over 3 miles long to get inside the whole time. One of the craziest experiences of my life! But it helped me to learn a lot more Spanish and learn how to be quick when speaking. I really enjoyed it.  We also had a sacrament meeting after service on Sunday at like 7pm with both missions. It was so cool! Both Mission Presidents and their wives gave talks. One word that was repeated by all of them was "Maravilloso" (marvelous). They talked about the feeling of serving ...

The only light I need is the light of Christ! 10-2-2021

Hey everyone! So Mexico has still been treating me well. I have been having more appointments with the bathroom this week, and we haven't had power in our apartment since Wednesday. And now we're out of gas for our water heater. But it's all good because the Gospel is true! Don't worry, it still has been a good week, we had a lot of blessings and cool experiences. We had a baptism for our friend Rosa García so that was awesome. They had me conduct so I could work on my Spanish, I didn't want to but it turned out okay.  Rosa was definitely prepared, and she is so good! Her daughter was baptized a few months ago, and I think that's what's been helping her coming into the church and believing all of it. They fed us breakfast one morning since we don't have power and brought us tacos one night. They're so good! Also bus rides here you have to hold on for life!  I wonder how often they have to replace their brakes, they use them a ton. But we rode the b...

Tres Dias en Mexico! 9-25-2021

Image
Hola todos! So my P-day is Saturday for now. So I made it down here safe to Mexico on Tuesday, and I am doing well! I don't understand the language really that much, so that's frustrating sometimes but I'm learning lots of patience! But I get lots of time each day to study Spanish which is good! My companions name is Elder Robinson, he's from Bountiful Utah! Thankfully his Spanish is pretty good though. Mine is not so good yet. 😂 I also live with Elder Malacara (bad face) and Elder Albrecht (who was in my MTC district). It's a good time! We kind of work as a 4 man companionship right now, and it's kinda interesting. We are in what's called the Facebook zone. We don't get to use Facebook find through our own personal profiles, we just run a Facebook page. It's not my favorite, but that's not all we do thankfully. We are also allowed to go in the streets to find people (which we haven't gotten to do yet) and we call through area book a lot. We...

Goodbye Michigan 9-20-2021

Image
Well, my time has come. I will be leaving Michigan in about 13 hours. It has been the best year of my life up this point. And I am going to miss Michigan and the people and the missionaries so much. It's been such a good time here. But Mexico will also be a party! I can't wait to not be able to talk to anyone, haha. Not really, but it will be good! We had a super Zone Conference this week, and it was different than normal! We weren't in normal missionary clothes like suits and white shirts, but we wore t-shirts and went on a hike! We also had a sit down with a lot of trainings and spiritual discussions, it was really good! That same day we went to meet with a new friend named Kayleigh, and she had 3 other friends with her that wanted to learn more! It was so cool, and a huge miracle! Because of that we were able to find 4 new people to teach!  I also went to Allegan on exchange with Elder Ballard, and it was so good! I had a great time, and we found a couple ...

Trapped in Chicago 9-13-2021

Hey everyone!  So remember when I needed to go to Salt Lake for the day last Tuesday to finish my visa work?  Elder Snow and I were supposed to leave at 5:40 in the morning and get back home at 10:51 pm. Well, everything went well until we went to leave Salt Lake. Our flight was delayed almost 3 hours due to weather in Chicago and they canceled our flight from Chicago to Lansing. So we showed up at the Chicago Airport at 11:40 pm, and our mission president said unfortunately we would have to stay the night in the Chicago Airport. So the Mission President sent the Assistants to pick us up at about noon the next day. It was a wild experience overall! But we got Chicago pizza, so it was all good. The day before we flew out to Utah our P-day was also crazy. We went to South Haven with the Benton Harbor District and walked around, and played some sports. It was fun. Then we had to go to Benton Harbor and help Elder Leavitt pack so he could be with us, then we drove to Lansin...

Hey Everyone 9-6-2021

Image
Hey everyone! So by the end of today I am going to be in a trio for the first time! Since Elder Duersch and I are both leaving to our original assignments before the end of the transfer, they are bringing in Elder Leavitt from Benton Harbor! It's going to be a good time! Also, I will be going to Salt Lake tomorrow to finish up my visa work, so that'll be fun! It will be a very long day though, I leave at 5:40 in the morning and get back home at 10:51 pm. Let's hope I'm not too exhausted because of it. We had a couple tradeoffs this week which were super cool! I was with Elder Gubler and Elder Sargent. Elder Gubler is really great, I enjoyed my day with him! He had a massive ranch back home and has hunted almost everything in the west and Alaska. So we had a lot to talk about, and he works really hard, it was great! And Elder Sargent is in training still. He's in a 4 man apartment where none of them do anything really. But he's holding up strong, and it was an ...
