3rd Times the Charm!! 1-25-21

Image
Hola amigos!      This week has been a pretty busy week overall! We had to do some stuff to prepare for Doug's baptism which happened Saturday! What a wonderful day! I'll tell you more about it later in this weekly update!       We had some great lessons with Doug to prepare him more for his baptism, and we had a really good lesson with our friend Joe Wood on Wednesday as well! And he wanted a Book of Mormon, so we were able to give him one! He's a really cool guy, he's got a lot of potential. And we had the Manistee Elder over for trade-offs with the zone leaders that day as well. That evening we went and got burgers from this place called Slabtown and they were soooo good! The burger I got  was cheese filled, so later that week I made some cheese filled burgers for dinner, they were so good! Mine didn't quite compare though.       And on Thursday we had just finished our lesson with Doug when the Zone leaders cam...

Neat! 1-18-2021

Hey folks! It has been a crazy week that's for sure! We had to say goodbye to some valiant missionaries from the TC zone! Elder Keyser and Elder Dunn were two of the saddest to say bye to for now. They will do good work where they go though. We had to drive down to Mount Pleasant for transfers, and then the next day we went down to Lansing to pick up Elder Roberts! He will be my trainee, and he is from Idaho Falls.       Besides that, we are doing lots of studies, and having a lot of lessons actually. (Most of them are with Doug haha) This zone has been super blessed though, we think we have more people on date than ever before. Facebook work is still not what I expected on my mission, and I'm still getting used to it, but it is such a blessing! I'm not sure I would've found someone like Doug if not for Facebook. So the work progresses no matter what!         So yeah, that's what my week consisted of, lots of driving and lessons ...

I'm gonna be a dad!?! 1/11/2021

Well it's official everyone! I am finished with my training as a missionary. I cannot believe that I have been in Michigan 3 months already! The time flies by faster and faster every day. So we are entering a new transfer, and sadly Elder Keyser will not be my companion any more. He will be moving down to Jackson Michigan. As for me, I will be training someone new! That's how I'm going to be a dad, we are considered someone's dad when we train them here in the mission! I am so excited, and I hope that I can do a decent job! You may want to keep me in your prayers if you can, I'll need them.      But besides that, it was a great last week of the transfer! We technically put someone else on baptismal date! It was an inactive family who didn't have their son baptized, but now they're coming back to church and want him to be baptized! The day is January 30! So we were able to teach a lesson today and put him on date. And we met with Doug a couple ti...

The Blessing of Doug 1-5-2021

Oh hey there folks! So my P-day is today because the elders we live with had a baptism so we both had our P-day today. Anyways, I can't believe that it's 2021 already! The time is flying by too fast! This week we had two lessons with Doug, and guess what? We put him on date!! The spirit was really directing our lesson because we were just going to study Mosiah 3, but then the topic of baptism came up. So we felt prompted to extend the invitation, and he readily accepted! He will be baptized January 23! So that was super amazing!       And we had a day trade off down in Manistee this Saturday, it was really fun! I was with Elder Nichols who is also the trainee down there. He is so fun, we had a really good time, and we got some good Spanish studies in. His original assignment is Hermosillo Mexico. And we went to this what we called "Colonel Sanchez". It was a fast food place that was KFC and Taco Bell in one. Elder Nichols and I got KFC and he played with...

Christmas #1 in the Mission 12-28-2020

What a wonderful week this has been! I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas! What better time of year is there than to celebrate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Christmas is just the best. It may have been very different away from home, but I am so happy to be here in Michigan at this time. Let me tell you why.      We met a new older gentleman this week. His name is Doug, and he is so amazing! He is the kindest, most charitable person. We have been talking on Facebook for about a week, and we met last Tuesday. And he made me a hand-knit scarf! And he gave me a gift bag even though he's never met me before. He is such a blessing! He readily accepted a Book of Mormon, and he is almost done with the 1st book of Nephi, and he says he loves it. He truly is amazing and I'm excited to see where he goes!       And we met with a lady I met over Facebook, and we thought she would be someone new to teach going into a virtual lesson. But it tu...

Merry Christmas Y'all!! 12-21-2020

Hey there folks!      It's crazy that Christmas is almost here! The time has flown by! So this past week had been a good and bad, but the good is always much more.       So starting from the beginning, last Pday we went to Sleeping Bear Dunes again, surprise! This time it was a snowy wasteland and we did the full dune hike which seemed really long, and it was quite chilly. But it was fun, I even got to sled a little bit. And we were able to celebrate my companion Elder Keyser's birthday on Friday. I made an eggnog cheesecake for him, which turned out okay. It was an experiment, but the crust was super good. And we had a member drop off a cake and KFC for him, and another member dropped off some sweets. And Saturday a new member family of 9 that just moved in sang us some Carol's and dropped off some super good chicken parmesan! It was so good! So this winter I'm turning into a blob. And we had a new person to teach this week plus two other...

SPRINT WEEK!!! 12-14-2020

Image
Good day to you friends and family, and I hope you all had a fantastic week. So this past week has been outstanding! We had what President and Sister Heap set up as a sprint week in the which we had goals of how many people to invite to church, invite to learn, invite to read the Book of Mormon, and to meet with the members. And we destroyed all of those goals! It was such a wonderful week, the Lord has blessed the work so much, it's amazing to see His hand in our lives. And we finally got SNOW! Yes, you heard that right. We got snow folks. We had a snowball fight that night, and I tried a new recipe of eggnog again. (So good😋)       We also had zone conference again this week, it was way shorter this time which was a little sad. But we learned a lot from President Heap and the Assistants to the President. And I played with Elder Corbett and Crookston on guitar for a musical number. And we sang as a district as well. It was a good conference, with lots ...

1st Week of Transfer Dos 12-7-2020

Hello everyone! I hope you had a wonderful week and as you all know, it's December! It's the Christmas season, and I will say it's a little different on a mission so far. But with Light the World and writing Christmas letters to others, it's still been amazing. What a wonderful time Christmas is to celebrate the Life, Atonement, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for my Savior and all He has done for me. I would reccomend watching "The Christ Child" ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yXWoKi5x3lw ). Think of how you feel after watching it, and think of your Savior Jesus Christ. It will work a wonder in your heart.      And I also hope that we get snow this season, it still hasn't come yet. And it's funny, one guy tried to tell me that we don't get snow in Arizona. I wanted to tell him that we got snow back home like 4 times already this winter and here in Michigan we have none. But everyone says when it comes it will be massi...

TRANSFER WEEK 11-30-2020

Hello everybody! I hope you all had the most fantastic Thanksgivings! And thank you so much for all the birthday wishes! I really appreciate it, you all brightened my day! It was a good day, my companion made this amazing cheesecake! And Thanksgiving was super fun, we were able to meet as a district and play some games and have a good time! And we had some amazing members that provided us a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner. It was a little strange to only eat Thanksgiving dinner with 3 people, but it was still so fun. And I was able to call that night and talk with my family, they were all together with my mom's side to celebrate Thanksgiving and my grandparents 50th anniversary. It was really such a blessing to be able to talk to my grandparents. So that was a really good two days.      So today and last Monday we went to the top of both the peninsula tips in our area in TC. They were the Grand Traverse and Old Mission lighthouses. It was so cold when we went t...
