I'm gonna be a dad!?! 1/11/2021
Well it's official everyone! I am finished with my training as a missionary. I cannot believe that I have been in Michigan 3 months already! The time flies by faster and faster every day. So we are entering a new transfer, and sadly Elder Keyser will not be my companion any more. He will be moving down to Jackson Michigan. As for me, I will be training someone new! That's how I'm going to be a dad, we are considered someone's dad when we train them here in the mission! I am so excited, and I hope that I can do a decent job! You may want to keep me in your prayers if you can, I'll need them.
But besides that,
it was a great last week of the transfer! We technically put someone
else on baptismal date! It was an inactive family who didn't have their
son baptized, but now they're coming back to church and want him to be
baptized! The day is January 30! So we were able to teach a lesson today
and put him on date. And we met with Doug a couple times, he is
absolutely stellar! He is reading through the Book of Mormon so fast, he
wants to finish it before he is baptized!
We also met
with some new people this week, one we met with at the church, he had a
lot of deep questions because he says he is a man of science. So it was a
good conversation, just not what we expected. But he said we did pretty
good at answering most of them, so that's good. And we met with a guy
that doesn't even live in our mission anymore over video call, he lives
in Ortonville. It wasn't a bad lesson, we'll see where it goes. And we
met with a member referral from Elder Threet, Elder Threet is from here
in Traverse City and he's on his mission in Washington. So he was able
to reach out to his friend while on his mission which was super cool,
and now we have gotten the opportunity to meet with his friend! His
friend's name is Joe Wood, it was a really good virtual lesson, we were
able to have his friend Elder Threet join, it was so good!
We also had a rough bible bash lesson, this guy was trying to nitpick
every little thing about our religion even though I've heard it all. It
just isn't ever fun when it happens though. He isn't a rude guy though,
so that's nice.
We also got to volunteer at Safe Harbor
which is a homeless shelter this week, it was so fun! We were with some
members and made some mostaccioli and garlic bread, and broccoli and
cake to feed the homeless people. Some of them were pretty crazy though,
one guy really wanted some milk and we didn't have any so he got upset
and said he'd go milk some California cows on his own. And one guy was
yelling about some interesting things as well.
But it was
a really great week, and I hope you all had a great week as well!! Stay
safe out there, and I'll let you know about my trainee soon! Till next
time!
Elder Williams
