The Blessing of Doug 1-5-2021

Oh hey there folks! So my P-day is today because the elders we live with had a baptism so we both had our P-day today. Anyways, I can't believe that it's 2021 already! The time is flying by too fast! This week we had two lessons with Doug, and guess what? We put him on date!! The spirit was really directing our lesson because we were just going to study Mosiah 3, but then the topic of baptism came up. So we felt prompted to extend the invitation, and he readily accepted! He will be baptized January 23! So that was super amazing!

And we had a day trade off down in Manistee this Saturday, it was really fun! I was with Elder Nichols who is also the trainee down there. He is so fun, we had a really good time, and we got some good Spanish studies in. His original assignment is Hermosillo Mexico. And we went to this what we called "Colonel Sanchez". It was a fast food place that was KFC and Taco Bell in one. Elder Nichols and I got KFC and he played with a Taco Bell gift card. It was pretty funny. And we had a couple lessons with people from TC over video call, and one of the ladies was blasting Pirates of the Caribbean during the lesson. It was quite interesting. And we met with a lady they are teaching in Manistee, the apartment she lived in stunk so bad! But that was a pretty good lesson.
We also had interviews with President Heap. He gave me some really good advice, and it's been helping a bit so far. I love that man, he is so kind and helpful and always has a cheery disposition. And you already know it, we had our own little New Years Eve celebration. We played Cover your Assests, I'm getting pretty good at it. And we were allowed to have a member bring us food that day, so Sister Burley did. And she brought us 4 meals that we ate throughout the next few days, it was so awesome!
We also had Doug come to church, and this time he brought scarfs for the sisters in our district! I don't know how he makes those things so fast, but when he makes them he listens to the Book of Mormon which is absolutely amazing! He truly understands how important and amazing that book is! And he says he's been sharing his testimony of the book with people at his work! So it's been a pretty great week!
I'd also like to share something Doug shared with me this morning: "The fruits of the Holy Spirit I shall strive to obtain in my life daily!  Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control. To these today I will seek after. If I do accomplish these, I will give thanks to God. If I fail in my efforts, I will seek God’s Grace thru prayer.  And when the sun sets, I will place my head on my pillow and rest giving thanks to God for helping me to obtain and display these fruits in my daily walk!  I just read this in my daily devotional!" I took that to heart, and I hope all you do as well.
I hope that this has been a great start to 2021 for all of you, and I hope that it will be a year to remember! (In a good way 😁)
