We'll bring the world the Vaccine? 10-11-2021

 Oh hey everyone!

So these past 3 days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) us and the Puebla South Mission did service for about 14 hours each day to help people here in Puebla get the vaccine! It was absolutely crazy, and fun! We were on our feet most of the time helping people fill out paperwork or organizing it for them, as well as directing people, answering questions for them, and the sorts. We helped over 54,000 people those 3 days to get the vaccine, and it felt like a lot more people. The line was over 3 miles long to get inside the whole time. One of the craziest experiences of my life! But it helped me to learn a lot more Spanish and learn how to be quick when speaking. I really enjoyed it.

We also had a sacrament meeting after service on Sunday at like 7pm with both missions. It was so cool! Both Mission Presidents and their wives gave talks. One word that was repeated by all of them was "Maravilloso" (marvelous). They talked about the feeling of serving others and how we have helped prepare so many people for the gospel from the weekend by just the light within us. This really is a marvelous work. And we had dinner with both missions as well, then went home. Then today, our mission president got the whole mission together for Breakfast (which was 3 hotdogs and popcorn haha) to watch a movie! We watched Luca, and I could understand most of it since it was in Spanish which was cool.

I also got my green card this week, so I am legal now! While we were at the government place to get the green card, one lady from China came over and started talking to us first! She didn't know any Spanish, and had pretty decent English, so we were able to talk with her! She taught at BYU, and so she knows about us. She had a great curiosity about temples and so we talked about that for a while. And out of nowhere she said she really really wants a Book of Mormon! Unfortunately we didn't have an English Book of Mormon on us, so we got her number and address, and now she's in contact with the Elders in her area. So that was super cool.

It's been a good week overall, not too much else big happened besides being poured on by rain, eating and working with some members, and trying to contact people over the phone. I also make lots of mistakes with the language which is fun. One member asked if we had "champulínas" and I heard "trampolines". Definitely not what she was asking haha, champuĺínas are grasshoppers. So that was funny.

But yeah, transfers are tomorrow, and I'm actually going to be a zone leader! I don't feel like I know enough Spanish too, but things will work out, they always do in the Lord's work.

P.S. I also have a mask sunburn line haha.

I love you all, and stay safe!

Elder Williams

( In case anyone is curious, his power was finally turned back on after almost a week without it! He was a trooper and never even complained about it, but his mom is super happy it is back on. Also when he emailed he didn't know yet what area he was going to be transferring to so we will wait and see)
