Tres Dias en Mexico! 9-25-2021

Image
Hola todos! So my P-day is Saturday for now. So I made it down here safe to Mexico on Tuesday, and I am doing well! I don't understand the language really that much, so that's frustrating sometimes but I'm learning lots of patience! But I get lots of time each day to study Spanish which is good! My companions name is Elder Robinson, he's from Bountiful Utah! Thankfully his Spanish is pretty good though. Mine is not so good yet. 😂 I also live with Elder Malacara (bad face) and Elder Albrecht (who was in my MTC district). It's a good time! We kind of work as a 4 man companionship right now, and it's kinda interesting. We are in what's called the Facebook zone. We don't get to use Facebook find through our own personal profiles, we just run a Facebook page. It's not my favorite, but that's not all we do thankfully. We are also allowed to go in the streets to find people (which we haven't gotten to do yet) and we call through area book a lot. We...

Goodbye Michigan 9-20-2021

Image
Well, my time has come. I will be leaving Michigan in about 13 hours. It has been the best year of my life up this point. And I am going to miss Michigan and the people and the missionaries so much. It's been such a good time here. But Mexico will also be a party! I can't wait to not be able to talk to anyone, haha. Not really, but it will be good! We had a super Zone Conference this week, and it was different than normal! We weren't in normal missionary clothes like suits and white shirts, but we wore t-shirts and went on a hike! We also had a sit down with a lot of trainings and spiritual discussions, it was really good! That same day we went to meet with a new friend named Kayleigh, and she had 3 other friends with her that wanted to learn more! It was so cool, and a huge miracle! Because of that we were able to find 4 new people to teach!  I also went to Allegan on exchange with Elder Ballard, and it was so good! I had a great time, and we found a couple ...

Trapped in Chicago 9-13-2021

Hey everyone!  So remember when I needed to go to Salt Lake for the day last Tuesday to finish my visa work?  Elder Snow and I were supposed to leave at 5:40 in the morning and get back home at 10:51 pm. Well, everything went well until we went to leave Salt Lake. Our flight was delayed almost 3 hours due to weather in Chicago and they canceled our flight from Chicago to Lansing. So we showed up at the Chicago Airport at 11:40 pm, and our mission president said unfortunately we would have to stay the night in the Chicago Airport. So the Mission President sent the Assistants to pick us up at about noon the next day. It was a wild experience overall! But we got Chicago pizza, so it was all good. The day before we flew out to Utah our P-day was also crazy. We went to South Haven with the Benton Harbor District and walked around, and played some sports. It was fun. Then we had to go to Benton Harbor and help Elder Leavitt pack so he could be with us, then we drove to Lansin...

Hey Everyone 9-6-2021

Hey everyone! So by the end of today I am going to be in a trio for the first time! Since Elder Duersch and I are both leaving to our original assignments before the end of the transfer, they are bringing in Elder Leavitt from Benton Harbor! It's going to be a good time! Also, I will be going to Salt Lake tomorrow to finish up my visa work, so that'll be fun! It will be a very long day though, I leave at 5:40 in the morning and get back home at 10:51 pm. Let's hope I'm not too exhausted because of it. We had a couple tradeoffs this week which were super cool! I was with Elder Gubler and Elder Sargent. Elder Gubler is really great, I enjoyed my day with him! He had a massive ranch back home and has hunted almost everything in the west and Alaska. So we had a lot to talk about, and he works really hard, it was great! And Elder Sargent is in training still. He's in a 4 man apartment where none of them do anything really. But he's holding up strong, and it was an ...

1 Year and A WILD WEEK 8-31-2021

I FOUND OUT THIS WEEK I'M GOING TO MEXICO ON SEPTEMBER 21ST!!!  I'm absolutely blown away to be honest, this came out of left field. I am nervous for Mexico because I haven't spoken Spanish really since my training almost a year ago. So now I will be doing Spanish studies again before I go, haha. I had a feeling these past few weeks that something was coming up and I should go to Mexico if I get the chance, and now my chance is here! And I hit my year mark of being a missionary this past week too! Everything has been happening at once, it's crazy. I am so blessed for this year of my life, and I've learned so much, even just normal life skills. And two weeks ago was a game changer for me in life, I am so sorry for not writing a weekly email about it. I will probably write about it today too if I have time. Very briefly though, 2 weeks ago we had Elder and Sister Bennett from the 70 come to our mission, and we had a zone conference with them and a miss...

ZOO Gang 8-16-2021

What's up everyone!  It's been a great first week in Kalamazoo! There's been a lot of things I've learned this week and a lot of adjustments. For most of my mission, I've interacted with a lot of older people. But now I'm only interacting with Young Single Adults like me, so it's a bit of a learning curve. 😂 It's almost as if I've forgotten how to talk to people. I also came into this zone not knowing anybody so I need to meet and get to know all the missionaries. But it's been a blast! My new companion Elder Duersch is really good, he's a goofball. He's a hard worker and wants to do all the right things, so we've been  getting along great so far. We are doing a lot of Facebook and calling people, as well as getting to know some of the members. And we're waiting for WMU to start soon so we can talk to some people on campus. Our church building is super cool, it's an old Baptist church I believe, and it's h...

To the Zoo! 8-9-2021

Hey everyone! Sorry I didn't get an individual email out to anyone, it turns out I'm transferring again! So I've been very busy packing, and we had a district P-day. It's really crazy I'm leaving again after one transfer, and Elder Harding is leaving too. I'm going to Kalamazoo (the zoo) to be a zone leader there. I will be serving on a college campus (WMU) and will be in a singles ward! So it will be a new experience for sure. We built a lot of momentum this last week of the transfer and had a lot of fun! We met all of our goals for building momentum week which was amazing! And we saw many miracles. We found and taught 5 new people, handed out close to 10 copies of the Book of Mormon, and felt the spirit a lot. At one point a lesson fell through, and I felt prompted to knock on one house. We went and knocked on it and had a great conversation with her and gave her a Book of Mormon. So that was super cool!  We also experienced a lot of East Side S...
