The Age of Alpena 5-24-2021

Image
Helllloooooo Everyone! I hope you all are doing well, and that you have had a good week! This week was pretty good for us, Elder Kim and I are brand new to Alpena, so we are still trying to figure things out. The branch members here are super nice and helpful, especially the Branch President and his wife, the Hermansen's. The branch is much smaller than Traverse City's, but we are hopefully in the progress of changing that. And the work here is harder as well, to be honest. We have been calling through people that have reached out to the missionaries or been taught before, and we are seeing some great miracles! One lady that it said "do not contact" we reached out to and said we will pray for her. And she expressed such great thanks, and said she is moving to Tennessee on Friday, and may need help moving. She asked us to find her a church down there to go to. So you already know which church that will be. ;) A lady I found on Facebook said she wants to come to churc...

The End of an Era! 5-17-2021

Well everyone, my time in Traverse City has come to an end. I will be moving to Alpena now, which is still in the same zone. I will be the district leader over an all Elders district. So I look forward to it, I'm getting Elder Kim as my companion, and he is a technology genius and really good at making videos. So maybe I'll be in some cool videos soon! It was a very busy and crazy week this past week, Wednesday we went up to Sault Ste. Marie which is in the upper peninsula for district council. And that was super fun, we got to see the Sault locks and Canada, so that was so cool!  Thursday we had our last district council together as the Manistee district. Then Manistee came over again on Friday for a tradeoff with the ZLs.  Saturday is a day that will never be forgotten! Elder Clark and I had the opportunity to assist with Shelly being baptized! Brother Fulk one of the members in the branch baptized her! They had such a strong connection and Brother Fulk really wanted ...

Best Week Ever!!! 5-10-2021

Hello everyone! This week has been super crazy and super amazing! We had a ton going on, I will try to summarize. Monday: We met with Maida again, and it was great! And we had a lesson over the phone with a new guy named Mike, it was so cool! He said that as soon as he wanted to come closer to God in his life, I reached out to him! And he turned away from God for a while, but now he is coming back, and he is so eager to learn more! Tuesday: We did some service at Habitat for Humanity and our lessons fell through. Wednesday: We had all four of the Petoskey elders come over, so we had 8 people in our apartment! And we had 6 lessons that day! 3 of them were with members, and it was great! And one of them we walked and talked with a guy about life experiences and God for like an hour and a half, it was great! He has a long road ahead of him, but he is willing to meet with us, so that is amazing! Another lesson was with a new guy named Mark, and he was kinda the same as Mike. He...

The Grandest of Rapids 5-3-2021

Image
Oh hey there! This week has been a very busy week! And once again it was a very fun week! We were able to take a trip to Grand Rapids because Elder Clark needed fingerprints done for his Visa. So that was a whole day trip, it was a really cool experience! We got to meet some new Elders, and I was able to see Elder Hatch, Johnson, and Staker for the first time in a while. Not much has changed with them they're still good boys. And Grand Rapids is definitely a whole new world from Traverse City. So that was cool! Plus we had Chick-fil-A which is always a bonus. We also had trade-offs with Manistee Friday, and as always that was fun! Elder Onines and Nichols are such good dudes. We were you able to talk on the phone with a new person, and he even came to church in person this Sunday! That was such a miracle! While we were driving back from Manistee that night, I was doing Facebook finding while Elder Clark was driving, and one guy wanted to talk on the phone right then a...

Door Knocking has Commenced! 4-26-2021

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back to ye olde weekly from Elder Williams! It has seriously been a crazy week, we are always doing something! We called through the rest of the members that haven't been to church in a long time, and then we have started knocking on their doors! Which is super cool! We can only knock on members doors as of right now though. We found out the church records are way old though, one guy hadn't lived at the address we had for 5 years. And one house looked like it hadn't been used for months. Because of this push we are doing to help out some of the members, we have gotten to meet with some of the members and it's been really special. Most of them didn't even know we had church in person back yet. And it's always cool to meet new people, they are still disappointed they can't feed us meals yet. As are we. We also had to take Shelly off of her date for baptism which was really sad. She just isn't quite ready yet, and there...

The end of another Sprint 4-19-2021

Image
¿Que es arriba? Hey everyone, welcome back to another weekly! We had our third Sprint week since I've been out here, and the goals were even higher! It was a busy week, and we met our goals again as a companionship! We saw a lot of miracles, our faith grew a lot, and a lot of laughter was had. There is never a dull moment in this apartment.  The weather has been all over the place, and the same with Covid. There's a lot of people in the area that have it. So send your prayers if you can! One of the really cool miracles I saw this week was the opportunity in inviting people to church. There was two guys that I decided to invite that we've met once before and they didn't seem too interested in church and religion. But they both watched over Zoom, and they both texted afterwards to say thank you for inviting them. That was really cool to see, normally people don't text to say thanks after coming to church. So hopefully we can see some progression in them....
