The Age of Alpena 5-24-2021

 Helllloooooo Everyone!

I hope you all are doing well, and that you have had a good week! This week was pretty good for us, Elder Kim and I are brand new to Alpena, so we are still trying to figure things out. The branch members here are super nice and helpful, especially the Branch President and his wife, the Hermansen's. The branch is much smaller than Traverse City's, but we are hopefully in the progress of changing that. And the work here is harder as well, to be honest.

We have been calling through people that have reached out to the missionaries or been taught before, and we are seeing some great miracles! One lady that it said "do not contact" we reached out to and said we will pray for her. And she expressed such great thanks, and said she is moving to Tennessee on Friday, and may need help moving. She asked us to find her a church down there to go to. So you already know which church that will be. ;) A lady I found on Facebook said she wants to come to church this Sunday, so we had a discussion about faith over the phone!  We were also able to visit a member and give her a blessing which was really neat.

So it has been interesting being the district leader over an all Elders district. Especially since they are all older in the mission than me. But it's been pretty interesting, they are something else. That's simply the best way I can put it. Interesting. Haha. My companion Elder Kim is super cool though, he is super talented at drawing and animating and making videos! So maybe I'll learn a thing or two from him.

I really like the feel of Alpena so far, it's a pretty small town too like Show Low, so it reminds me of home. It's basically right on Lake Huron too, so I will have lived really close to Lake Michigan and Huron here in Michigan. They have these black flies that are apparently rampant this time of year, so that's not too fun. But they'll be gone soon. And it's getting hot, it's been above 80 already, and we have no cooling. Just two box fans, and a super small ac unit in the back room. So it will be a hot summer if I'm still here.

So yeah, that's how my week has been, and I hope all of you have a great week this week as well! Take care, miss you all!
