Personal letter to Parents 2-21-2022

Hey mom and dad, I hope you're well. I figured I ought to write you guys a more personal letter, it's been quite a while haha. Sorry about that. So we will be having transfers tomorrow, and I will be with a different companion now after so long of being with Elder Arias. I don't know much about my new companion Elder Haymore, but I've heard he's super nice, and really quiet but works hard. And I've heard he's from Arizona so that's cool. I think I'll miss Elder Arias because we've been together so long, and I like learning Spanish from a Mexican a lot. And so I'll be in charge of the area, and there is so much work ahead of us, it will be a challenge, I'm excited. We ended this transfer a little discouraged to be honest. We went really hard at the beginning knocking almost all the doors in the Ometoxtla ward and doing everything we could think of to encourage the members. We've done a lot. But this last week, I felt like...

Hey everyone, what's happening? So we have exchanges tomorrow, and it turns out I'll be staying here in this area. My companion will be leaving to the other side of Puebla, and I will be getting another gringo from Arizona. His name is Elder Haymore, I don't know him too well, but I excited. I did still want to be with someone from Mexico to learn more Spanish, but it's all good. We have a lot of work ahead of us, so we'll keep er movin down the line. This week not too much big or crazy happened. We've had a plenitude of meetings, that's for sure. We met with one of the members of the stake presidency on Tuesday to plan on how we can propel the missionary work forward in the stake. We planned on going to every ward council to continue to work on tracking the progress of the copies of the Books of Mormon the members have to share. And as well this next month we have an open house for the stake center in March, so we've been making goals in e...

The blessings of going to church 2-14-2022

Hey everyone! This week wasn't super eventful, not too much happened. We had a lot of lessons cancel, we had to stop teaching some people because they just wouldn't answer, or they wouldn't act in faith to any of our invitations. But it's okay, the Lord will take good care of them. We did have a mission Leadership meeting this week I think. And it was good, we're striving to improve the zone and help the animation of the missionaries. We also had some video calls with the missionaries personally to watch a message from President with them and make some specific goals for the work in their areas. We're hoping that helps quite a bit. We went to visit a person we had given a Book of Mormon this past week, and we ended up being able to serve her and clean all her windows and change her blinds, it was awesome to be able to have spontaneous service. And we taught a good lesson afterwards, we'll see what happens there, she's a teacher in her chu...

Justin baptized Justin! 2-7-2022

Hola damas y caballeros! This week felt pretty long to be honest, but it was pretty good. Our district council last week was pretty interesting, because one companionship in our zone couldn't come, they were in quarantine almost all week, and we're pretty sure it was covid. So they were just on the phone. And they didn't answer the phone or see any of the messages in the mission chat like all week when we tried to call them, so that was interesting. So last night, President had members go to their house at like 11pm to see if they were OK. Tuesday we had 4 lessons which isn't much, but for this area it is. Like 90% of the time people always cancel lessons on us. So we have lots of time door knocking. One of the ladies we taught Tuesday basically knows the Book of Mormon is true, but she doesn't see the need of a church or going to church. So that will be tricky. The thing that's hard too is everyone wants to only meet maybe once a week. So it's...

Reuniones, muchas reuniones 1-31-2022

Hola mis queridos hermanos. Yes, this week has been super busy. Lots of meetings, and lots of finding and teaching in between those meetings. Like I mentioned in the other letter that I wrote late, last Monday we had a huge meeting during our P-day with President Montejo to record a practice district council for all the mission to watch. President told us he wants our stake to be a model stake for the whole mission. He has big expectations for us. And with the stake, the goal in the future is to have 1 baptism every week in every ward. It's a very high goal, but it will come to pass. So Tuesday, the stake Presidency wanted us to come to their weekly meeting. We discussed a lot about this new way we're sharing the Book of Mormon with everyone, and the Stake President said he wants every family to have 2 copies of the Book of Mormón to share with others. They have great faith too. After, we had our missionary coordination for Ometoxtla, and we talked about how we c...

Interesting 1-24-2022

Sorry I didn't write this email last week, it was a wild P-day. At 9 in the morning we had to be at the church, because our mission president came and we filmed a model district council to show to the whole mission. And we did that for about 3 hours, then they bought us some Costco pizza. 😋 But after that, it was super hectic, so apologies. This past week was good, we worked pretty hard out in the streets contacting, and trying to find people. We have been walking all over the place, and we even went way out to Coronango a few times. Coronango is our other area, but most of the members in the Coronango ward live close to the border here in the Ometoxtla ward. Only a couple members live in Coronango in the ward. It's like a 15 minute drive to Coronango, but it's a hefty walk. We went out to Coronango to eat with a member, but the member had left and told us to stop by and her son would be there. Well the place where she told us to go to,  ended up being a guy ...

Clean up Time! 1-17-2022

Hey y'all! Here I am again, livin' the good life! It's been a good week here in Ometoxtla and Coronango, we've seen a lot of blessings and miracles! First of all, on Tuesday we had to go help with transfers with Elder Mendoza who was living with us, and then we had to go meet up somewhere to give the new Hermanas our old phone. We also went and bought a lot of stuff to clean the house, then we went to a Brazilian steakhouse buffet. It was pretty pricey for here in Mexico, but we needed it, and it was pretty good. When we got home, we had a mission correlation meeting for Ometoxtla, and to be honest, it was awesome. These members have a lot of faith and are excited to work with us as new Elders. Afterwards, we went home to clean the house, and we ended up cleaning the house until like 3am, it was quite the mess. But now it's much much better. (This makes his mom proud!) Wednesday we went on a tour in the area with a member, and we visited some families...
