Clean up Time! 1-17-2022
Hey y'all!
Here I am again, livin' the good life!
It's been a good week here in Ometoxtla and Coronango, we've seen a lot
of blessings and miracles!
First of all, on
Tuesday we had to go help with transfers with Elder Mendoza who was
living with us, and then we had to go meet up somewhere to give the new
Hermanas our old phone. We also went and bought a lot of stuff to clean
the house, then we went to a Brazilian steakhouse buffet. It was pretty
pricey for here in Mexico, but we needed it, and it was pretty good.
When we got home, we had a mission correlation meeting for Ometoxtla,
and to be honest, it was awesome. These members have a lot of faith and
are excited to work with us as new Elders. Afterwards, we went home to
clean the house, and we ended up cleaning the house until like 3am, it
was quite the mess. But now it's much much better. (This makes his mom
proud!)
Wednesday we went on a tour in the
area with a member, and we visited some families and learned a lot more
which is good. There are lots of people that still haven't been
baptized, and they all have their unique challenges. Hopefully with the
help of the members and the Lord, we can help these people.
We
had a big zone conference Thursday, and I thought it was pretty
powerful. It was super simple and basic, but so powerful. We talked
about the power of Prayer, the Book of Mormón, and going to church. But
mainly about the power of the Book of Mormon, and it was powerful. We
also learned some new examples from President Montejo on how we can
immediately present the Book of Mormon to others in an effective way.
Since then we've seen huge miracles. We've been giving like 15 Book of
Mormons a day to different people.
We have been
doing a lot of contacting, getting to know the members, and teaching
lessons. It's been really good, the members are really excited to have
new missionaries. The last missionaries here were quite interesting, and
some of the members have been telling us what they had been up to.
We've had to do a ton of cleanup work with records, contacts, and
everything. But we've learned a lot doing it. And I'm happy to be here.
Also,
new foods I tried this week. I had chicharrón, which is fried pig skin.
And we also had some other pig skin that wasn't fried, I didn't like
either of those too much, but of course I ate it. We also had these
tacos made from cooked pigs blood and intestine. I actually thought it
was pretty good, haha.
Awkward experience. One
of the families we went to teach has a daughter our age, 20 years old.
She was just talking to us before we all got together, and one of the
first things she said to me while looking me directly in the eye is she
wants to marry a gringo. And my companion thought it was so funny, and
was making some wild comments, but she was being serious. So I just
kinda laughed it off. But yeah, there's that.
Yesterday
we got to visit the construction of the Puebla temple with the members
from one of the last wards we were barely in. So that was really cool,
and i got to talk a bit with the senior couple in charge of the temple.
They are a couple from Utah and the lady doesn't speak any Spanish at
all. They are there to oversee the temple construction until it is
complete. Senior couple missionaries are the best, they're so kind and
there's so much you can learn from them. And the temple is coming along
greatly, I want to return to visit is some day.
But
if there's one thing you can learn from my email, it's the power of the
Book of Mormon. Never forget how powerful it is, use it to help
yourself, help your friend or family, and for everyone. It's so good!
Love you all, have a great week!
