Personal letter to Parents 2-21-2022
Hey mom and dad, I hope you're well. I figured I ought to write you guys a more personal letter, it's been quite a while haha. Sorry about that.
So
we will be having transfers tomorrow, and I will be with a different
companion now after so long of being with Elder Arias. I don't know much
about my new companion Elder Haymore, but I've heard he's super nice,
and really quiet but works hard. And I've heard he's from Arizona so
that's cool. I think I'll miss Elder Arias because we've been together
so long, and I like learning Spanish from a Mexican a lot. And so I'll
be in charge of the area, and there is so much work ahead of us, it will
be a challenge, I'm excited.
We ended this
transfer a little discouraged to be honest. We went really hard at the
beginning knocking almost all the doors in the Ometoxtla ward and doing
everything we could think of to encourage the members. We've done a lot.
But this last week, I felt like it was one of the laziest weeks of my
mission. We woke up late almost every day, and we've left the house
late, and then we've taken a little nap each day. We just have been
exhausted from such little results especially in the Ometoxtla ward. But
as I said in my weekly, we still had a lot of meetings and did a lot of
good things, but I know we could've done more. But we can't go back
now, we can only move forward.
I think my new
companion will be good for me, because Elder Arias is so good at service
and helping people, but he's my most unfriendly and quick-to-anger
companion I've ever had by far. That's one of the things that's been
pretty hard for me this whole time. A lot of times i could talk with him
was talking more negatively about people, and I don't like that too
much. And I know that won't happen with my new companion so I'm
excited.
This area has been hard for me, but
it's been harder for Elder Arias, the way the people interact and act
here is like his enemy. So he lost a lot of motivation this transfer,
and unfortunately I didn't have a ton of motivation to carry us either,
so we'll see what happens now. I want to be a lot better, I hope I can.
I
have so many things that I want to do, and there's so much work but we
can't do it all as just 2 people. We have the whole zone and work a lot
with the stake Presidency and high council members and both wards. And
technically we have 2 branches where the work is only over the phone,
but we haven't done anything with them. And we have this ward missionary
activity Saturday where they want us to bring the whole zone, but we
still don't have it planned very well. And we have a zone conference to
lead this week too haha.
Let's just say I have a
lot on my plate, and I need to step up my game big time. I'm excited to
do it, and I love to work, so well see what happens.
I've
also been thinking a lot more about what I'm going to do when I get
home, cause these 6 months are going to fly by. I've thought about
possibly being a civil engineer, or another thing I've thought of is
possibly looking into being a golf course superintendent where they
overlook all the course and management. There's a lot of people I'm
those crews that speak Spanish and it would be a good way to keep up
with it. But I'll try and look a little bit more into careers when I get
to use the computer a bit for P-day.
Also, I
took a Spanish test through the missionary portal to test how I'm doing,
and it says I'm more advanced now. So that makes me feel good, God has
been good to me and I'm doing well. Just still adjusting to being a
missionary, that never stops haha.
I love you, thank you for all the love and support always. It helps me a lot.
Love,
Elder Williams
