To the Zoo! 8-9-2021

Image
Hey everyone! Sorry I didn't get an individual email out to anyone, it turns out I'm transferring again! So I've been very busy packing, and we had a district P-day. It's really crazy I'm leaving again after one transfer, and Elder Harding is leaving too. I'm going to Kalamazoo (the zoo) to be a zone leader there. I will be serving on a college campus (WMU) and will be in a singles ward! So it will be a new experience for sure. We built a lot of momentum this last week of the transfer and had a lot of fun! We met all of our goals for building momentum week which was amazing! And we saw many miracles. We found and taught 5 new people, handed out close to 10 copies of the Book of Mormon, and felt the spirit a lot. At one point a lesson fell through, and I felt prompted to knock on one house. We went and knocked on it and had a great conversation with her and gave her a Book of Mormon. So that was super cool!  We also experienced a lot of East Side S...

Preparation BMW 8-2-2021

Hey peoples! We are commencing preparations for what we now call Building Momentum Week (BMW). It's basically the same thing as our sprint weeks, just a name change. We have some very high goals as a mission and we're hoping and praying we make those goals. As a companionship we will be trying trying invite 50 people to learn, 48 to church, 21 to read the Book of Mormon, and some goals of helping some members. We will be going hard, so please send some prayers! This past week was really good too! We went to 2 district councils, had interviews with President Heap, spent a day in Mount Pleasant, and did some more service. And some other stuff of course, like we got a new couch! (He found it online for $40 and him and his companion split the cost, they said it was quite the bear getting it home to their  house) We also saw an 1840 edition of of Book of Mormon at CMU College in Mount Pleasant! That was so cool to see what the style of the Book was back then. And we got to give a bl...

Storms in Saginaw 7-26-2021

Image
Hey everyone! We worked a lot this week as well with members, even more than last week! And we got to celebrate some birthdays in the Zone, and we did some more service! We only had one exchange with Bay City 2 again this week, and that was fun! Things are starting to build here in Saginaw, but we are still trying really hard to find people to teach. We also experienced a Michigan storm. It was super short and super powerful, some tornadoes even happened pretty close. Meeting with members has been such a blessing. It's so amazing to feel their spirit and love for missionary work and how much they love the gospel and want to share it with others. I feel things are going to pop off soon with new people to teach.  It was also Elder Chilcote's birthday on Wednesday and Elder Flamm's on Friday. So that was cool. We had a party with most of the Zone today for P-day and made some crepes and played some games. Needless to say, we haven't been eating healthy this w...

Super Zone Conference! 7-19-2021

Image
Hey all! This week was busy again, and one of the highlights was definitely our Zone Conference! For the first time we had a multi-zone conference where we were with the Traverse City Zone and Lansing Zone. It was a blast! We learned how to better preach by the way out in public and how to better work with members. And we got to give a little training which was stressful but fun. We also had a competition where everyone had to clean their cars and the winner gets a Chick-Fil-A gift card. Elder Harding and and I went all out! We cleaned every square inch of the car, I made a cake for the vehicle coordinator, and we set up a system where we had smooth jazz playing when he inspected. And we still didn't win. πŸ˜‘ But it was a good time. We also are focusing on getting to know some members and building relationships with them and it's been amazing! Some of them mentioned some people we may be able to teach soon. That will be a blessing if that's the case. We also ha...

Tradeoffs Galore! 7-12-2021

Image
Hey there! This week has been a pretty busy week! We have been all over the Zone with lots of tradeoffs! So tradeoffs are when we spend the day with another companionship of missionaries and switch companions for the day. We had 4 total this week!  Tuesday I was on a tradeoff with Elder Kofford, we spent the day in Saginaw. It was awesome, I learned a lot from him and we had a lot in common. We talked about hunting a lot, and of course missionary work. Wednesday we went to the Midland district council which was great. Then we went to a nice diner afterwards. We spent a lot of time preparing for Stake Coordination by calling each area, and we made some plans to reach out to some less active members. Thursday we went to Oscoda and did some service, saw a bear, had some meetings and some steak. But most importantly we spent time with the Oscoda Elders and had Stake Coordination. Stake Coordination is when we meet with the Mission Presidency and the Stake Presidency and t...

Bad Axe Missionary for a day! 7-5-2021

What's up you guys! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡² It has been a crazy first week as a zone leader!  My companions name is Elder Harding. He's also from Idaho Falls like Elder Roberts was. And Elder Harding is super good! We had our transfer day and it was sad to leave the TC Zone, but the Midland zone is great so far! The day after transfers we went to Lansing to pick up Elder Chilcote's trainee. His trainee's name is Elder Stoner hehe.  Elder Stoner is a really good kid. We also got Chick-Fil-A twice when we were down there which was nice.  We also got to meet with some members and it was really great! There have been some beautiful homes we have been in, which was very surprising, I had heard Saginaw was very ghetto. And we taught and had some great lessons! We met with a girl named Olivia who is about our age and she is so prepared! It was the most stress free lesson ever, we were with her and a member family and her boyfriend who is a member. We went over to Mount Pleasant for a day...

Off to Saginaw!! 6-28-2021

Hello everyone! If I didn't reply to your email or send you one personally this week, I'm sorry. It's been crazy! And yeah, huge news! Elder Kim and I have only been in Alpena for 1 transfer (6 weeks) and we are both moving out again! I will now be going to Saginaw to be a zone leader! And Elder Kim is going down to Lansing. I will be sad to leave Alpena so soon, especially since I love the area and people so much! That's the biggest thing I've done this transfer, is pray to love the people here. And I do so dearly. But I am so excited for Saginaw too! I will be following the song by Lefty Frizzell! But what a good final week for Alpena! We had a good transfer with the Houghton Lake Elders, I was with Elder Flamm. And we had a good district council, and I have had some of the best lessons in my life this week! One of the highlights was I was able to interview the Matthews family for baptism! One of the great lessons was with Lisa. She has only been taught twice no...
