Tradeoffs Galore! 7-12-2021

Image
Hey there! This week has been a pretty busy week! We have been all over the Zone with lots of tradeoffs! So tradeoffs are when we spend the day with another companionship of missionaries and switch companions for the day. We had 4 total this week!  Tuesday I was on a tradeoff with Elder Kofford, we spent the day in Saginaw. It was awesome, I learned a lot from him and we had a lot in common. We talked about hunting a lot, and of course missionary work. Wednesday we went to the Midland district council which was great. Then we went to a nice diner afterwards. We spent a lot of time preparing for Stake Coordination by calling each area, and we made some plans to reach out to some less active members. Thursday we went to Oscoda and did some service, saw a bear, had some meetings and some steak. But most importantly we spent time with the Oscoda Elders and had Stake Coordination. Stake Coordination is when we meet with the Mission Presidency and the Stake Presidency and t...

What's up you guys! 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 It has been a crazy first week as a zone leader!  My companions name is Elder Harding. He's also from Idaho Falls like Elder Roberts was. And Elder Harding is super good! We had our transfer day and it was sad to leave the TC Zone, but the Midland zone is great so far! The day after transfers we went to Lansing to pick up Elder Chilcote's trainee. His trainee's name is Elder Stoner hehe.  Elder Stoner is a really good kid. We also got Chick-Fil-A twice when we were down there which was nice.  We also got to meet with some members and it was really great! There have been some beautiful homes we have been in, which was very surprising, I had heard Saginaw was very ghetto. And we taught and had some great lessons! We met with a girl named Olivia who is about our age and she is so prepared! It was the most stress free lesson ever, we were with her and a member family and her boyfriend who is a member. We went over to Mount Pleasant for a day...

Off to Saginaw!! 6-28-2021

Hello everyone! If I didn't reply to your email or send you one personally this week, I'm sorry. It's been crazy! And yeah, huge news! Elder Kim and I have only been in Alpena for 1 transfer (6 weeks) and we are both moving out again! I will now be going to Saginaw to be a zone leader! And Elder Kim is going down to Lansing. I will be sad to leave Alpena so soon, especially since I love the area and people so much! That's the biggest thing I've done this transfer, is pray to love the people here. And I do so dearly. But I am so excited for Saginaw too! I will be following the song by Lefty Frizzell! But what a good final week for Alpena! We had a good transfer with the Houghton Lake Elders, I was with Elder Flamm. And we had a good district council, and I have had some of the best lessons in my life this week! One of the highlights was I was able to interview the Matthews family for baptism! One of the great lessons was with Lisa. She has only been taught twice no...

Restoration at Big Boy 6-21-2021

Hello everyone! This week has been a really good one, and a tough one too! It's been crazy! We were able to find 4 new people to teach which was an awesome miracle! We found 2 of them from members, and 2 of them over Facebook (it still works!) And I had an exchange with the Grayling Elders! We had some cool experiences getting to meet each of these new people. We met with a man named Mike at a restaurant called Big Boy, and had a good meal and a good lesson on the Restoration! He is at the point in his life where he doesn't care at all what others think about him, just what God thinks about him. So he is in the perfect mindset to accept the restored gospel! He readily accepted the Book of Mormon and wants to come to church! And we met with a lady named Laurie that feels lonely and doesn't know what her purpose is. Hopefully we can help her understand God's love and her purpose! And we met the other two people, Roger and Marge which were different friends of different me...

Driving, Driving and More Driving! 6-14-2021

Hello everyone! As you can tell, we drove a little bit this week. It was a good time though, I love driving! We had exchanges with the Houghton Lake Elders on Tuesday, Gaylord Elders on Wednesday, and Traverse City on Friday. And everywhere is at least an hour and a half from here. 😂  It was a really good time having tradeoffs with Elder Olson from Houghton Lake on Tuesday, he's a good guy. We have a lot in common, so that was really cool. I am really starting to love love members of my district more and more. It was great being with Elder Campbell on Wednesday too, he's super funny and he's a good chef. We have a lot in common too with music, talking about music is how I connect with most people haha. He has a lot of talent and he's a good guy. And on Friday I got to be with Elder Hunter! He is one of my most favorite missionaries ever. I missed being with him and being in Traverse City. It's really busy there now and it's super green! It's c...

District Conference! 6-7-2021

Hey, what's up everyone! It's been another great and busy week! We had a final meeting with Elder Bennett as we shared some miracles and how the initiative has been since we learned last week. And at the end, he shared his testimony of Jesus Christ, and it was so powerful. If you want to bring the spirit into the room, testifying of Jesus Christ is a sure way to do it. The APs called us later that night, and said that we would get the opportunity to meet with just Elder Bennett for a bit over video call! That was so cool, Elder Kim and I just talked with Elder Bennett for about 15 min, I love him! So I went and listened to his General Conference talks and some devotionals he gave, I would recommend them! We also had a great discussion with with missionary district this week about the Plan of Salvation, and the spirit was strong. There is power in knowing God's plan for us but it isn't just to give us an eternal perspective, it's also a knowledge that we can be bless...

Mission tour with Elder Bennett 5-31-2021

Hello everyone! This week has been super busy, and super good so I will try and make this quick! We had the wonderful opportunity to receive council and training from Elder Randall K. Bennett of the General Authority Seventy this week! It was such a wonderful and eye-opening experience for me! Overall it was about 8 hours over 4 days, and I could've done a lot more! There was so many things he taught us and the spirit taught us, I won't be able to tell you all of it. Some of the things he asked us to focus on is living the two great commandments and loving members. And I have gained such a greater love for the members since then! He also invited us to pray more than ever before, so now I pray before every phone call I make! It's brought some great experiences and cool miracles! And he asked us to pray with all the energy of heart for charity, which was super cool, because that's what I picked for our commitment for district council last week! The spirit r...
