Ice Volcanoes and Transfers 2-22-2021
Hello everybody!
This week has felt slow, but we also had a lot
of really cool experiences and it will be a week to remember! So I am
starting my 4th transfer, and I will still be here in Traverse City to
finish training Elder Robert's. And it will probably be my last transfer
here. It's crazy to think that 1/4 of my mission will be here in this
area, but I'm so excited!
Also, you're probably
wondering why it says ice volcanoes in my title. Well I'll tell you why.
The bay is starting to really freeze over, and the waves have frozen in
the shape of mini frozen volcanoes. And the first day we saw that there
was water that would shoot up through the tops. It was so cool! I never
knew that was a thing, and I'm sure I won't see that again. I will give
you some pictures to show how cool it really was.
Also,
we had a lady we haven't even taught before that I invited to church and
she came! She had to leave a bit early, but she said that she loved it!
And we have a man named Jon that has been coming to church because he's
friends with members, hopefully we get to teach him this week! He has
read all of the Book of Mormon and most of Doctrine and Covenants, and
be says he knows for a surety that they are so true! And after church I
was able to give him a priesthood blessing, because he has some hard
things going on. And Maida and Joe watched church this week!
We had some great moments this week, probably too many to write. One
was we had a great lesson with Joe where we talked about Jesus Christ
and the Atonement and the spirit was strong. And we met with Mariah with
the Cadillac sisters because Mariah lived in their area but we found
her. We found out she is going through some hard times, and we are able
to share the plan of salvation with her. Even despite her hard times,
that was one of the most fun lessons I've been in. We just all felt a
connection as friends. And we had a great lesson with Maida as well!
Elder Roberts and I went to go shovel some snow for a member one
day, and somehow our maps took us to the wrong house, but we didn't know
it. We were just about done shoveling the snow, when this guy came out
and asked who we were. He said he really appreciated us shoveling the
snow because him and his wife couldn't because they had an accident
pretty recently. And he said he would love to hear a message sometime!
So hopefully we get to teach them as well. There was no coincidence my
phone took us to the wrong house, miracles do happen.
Also, yesterday on Sunday Elder Roberts and I were invited to a bible
study with a family of 6 adults and 3 kids. Apparently this family does a
bible study every Sunday and it was at the dad's house this time. The
dad's name is Steven and he has this great white beard and he's really
cool. He said he didn't agree with some things in our church, so I'm not
sure what yet, but they were so glad to have us join them and he shared
some great things. We were there almost 2 hours because they do almost
an hour of playing songs on guitar and singing. And they want me to play
next time on my guitar. So wish me luck! I need it.
So
yeah, that was most of my week. I hope all of you had a great week and
will have a great week this week! Until next time! Love you all!
